The Gallery of Clubhouse Chatters is organized so people can find their friends easily with an alphabetized index page, then click on the small image to see a larger photo. The posted images are 100x100 pixels on the index page, and no larger than 640x424 pixels on the larger linked photo. (I can reduce almost any picture to fit, but I can't enlarge an image that's too small. So try to avoid itsy bitsy teeny weeny pictures as well as sweeping landscapes in which the people are smiling dots).
Since this page is a way for people to meet their online friends, the best pictures are often candid snapshots which show a little about a person's home, family or hobbies. "Glamour" shots and tightly focused head-shots don't say anything about the person (and head shots are very difficult to frame on the index page - I often have to choose between cutting off a person's hair or chin).
Once you've chosen your picture, get it scanned in if you haven't already. Most chain drugstores, photo shops, and office service stores will scan an image to disk for you. Then email it to me in either a ".jpg" or ".bmp" file format. Scanned images are generally saved in one of these two formats. Don't worry about the file size -- I have a fast connection to the internet and prefer to work with the better quality image that comes to me in larger files.
Once I get a picture it is edited slightly to fit on the page and to ensure the best brightness and clarity possible. All frames and text are removed (plan for this in choosing your picture. People often lose hair when the artistic frame from their own photo software is removed, or have a gaping hole in their face where text used to be). Please tell me what name you chat under, and please stick to one name. The index page just doesn't have room for a lot of multiple personalities. There is room under a picture for a name that's up to 14 letters (or other characters). If your chosen screen name is longer than that I may neeed to shorten it for the picture page. It's great to see family members and friends, but the index page only contains names and photos of people who chat in the clubhouse. If you send a picture of "John and Marsha," let me know whether Marsha or John or both is found in the chat room.
I look forward to seeing your smiling face. If you have any questions, or when you're ready to send your photo, just email the us at galleryofpics@aarecovery.com. Keep Logging In!
